Magyar Posta issued a commemorative stamp with a label to mark the World Fencing Championships to be held in Budapest between 5 and 12 August 2013. The stamp design shows two fencers competing in a bout with a bird’s-eye view of the strip, the area where the competitors fence, in the background printing. The label at the side of the stamp honours the centennial of the foundation of the International Fencing Federation.
In the centennial year of the International Fencing Federation, competitors, including wheelchair athletes, from all disciplines of fencing will test their skills in Budapest. Over 1,000 fencers as well as trainers, sports officials, accompanying persons, guests and fans will be at the World Championships in the SYMA hall.
Nine countries formed the International Fencing Federation (FIE) in 1913. Today the organisation boasts 148 members and the sport has retained its place among the events of the Olympic Games. The centennial world championships present an outstanding opportunity to strengthen the sport and for young fencers to excel, combining the will to win and the rules of fair play while earning a worldwide reputation.
Ancient stick fighting, gladiatorial contests and mediaeval dueling were the forerunners of fencing as a modern sport. These have been tamed by modern sportsmanship.Fencing today uses three weapons with slightly different rules, the epée, the foil and the sabre.
Birth Centenary of poet SÁNDOR WEÖRES
Magyar Posta issued a miniature sheet with a surcharge to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the celebrated poet, writer and literary translator. Graphic compositions of quotations from his works and drawings illustrating them appear on the miniature sheet.

Magyar Posta devotes the proceeds from the surcharge to supporting youth stamp collecting.
Sándor Weöres (1913–1989) Kossuth Prize-winning poet, writer and literary translator, founder of the Béla Pásztor Award for young poets. His wife, Amy Károlyi, was also a poet and literary translator. His first volume (It Is Cold) was published in Pécs in 1934. Generations grew up on his colourful, tuneful verses. The best known are Bobita (1955) and If the World Were a Thrush (1974). As a translator his achievement is also astounding. His interpretation of works mainly directly from the original of authors in English, German, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Italian and Latin raised him to the pinnacle of literature translated into Hungarian.
Hungary - Azerbaijan Joint Issue

Magyar Posta and Azermarka issued a joint miniature sheet featuring the peacock motif often used in the applied folk art of both countries . Cross stitch embroidery from Transdanubia is featured on a light background on one of the stamps of the miniature sheet, and a detail from a horse blanket from the Caucasus is shown on the other.
